The Beast Hunter Books For Africa Fundraiser Event

For a while now, I've been interested in holding some kind of fundraiser event. When I was in high school and was producing my own stage plays, my acting company would donate its proceeds to organizations like United Cerebral Palsy and the Red Cross. It felt good to be making a direct, positive change through my writing, and so I decided to do something like that again.

The release of The Beast Hunter seemed like the perfect opportunity for something like this, but I had trouble deciding which of the many worthy causes out there to support. I also wanted something that I could feel a personal connection to, as well as something that was related to the kind of work that I do.

When I found Books For Africa, I knew that this would be the right organization. BFA’s mission is to end the poverty cycle in Africa by putting books, both fiction and nonfiction, into the hands of children, millions of whom have never held a book before. While many libraries and bookstores in the United States have donated books, the high cost of shipping means that there are nearly a million books that are simply waiting around in warehouses for the funds needed to ship them. The good news? A donation of just 50 cents is enough to deliver a single book and make a lasting difference in a child’s life.

My fundraiser will be running until July 10th. If you’d like to contribute, simply purchase The Beast Hunter in paperback or EBook form and then take a picture of yourself with your new book. For every picture that is posted on the Facebook Event page, I will make a one dollar donation to BFA. Only one donation per copy of The Beast Hunter.

Please take the time to make a difference in a child’s life and help break the poverty cycle in Africa.
